Sacred Water: Rise of the KRU
Neak Ta, an ancient Cambodian water guardian spirit, awakens from her silent slumber summoning sacred waters at her command and restoring balance between the seen and unseen worlds.
In a modern city disconnected from its roots, a quiet imbalance begins to take hold spreading through the hearts of its people. As this unseen fracture grows, an ancient Cambodian water spirit awakens, emerging from a forgotten past to restore what has been lost.
Sacred Water offers a glimpse into the origins of the KRU modern-day guardians who channel ancestral rituals through movement, ink, and spirit. As the boundary between worlds begins to thin, they must confront the forces within and around them to restore harmony between the seen and unseen.
Made possible with the support of United Cambodian Community and in collaboration
with the Modern Apsara Dance Company.
This project came together through passion bringing together living arts to reflect who we are today as Cambodian Americans. Every element was created with intention, honoring both tradition and contemporary expression.
